College Football Week 7 Preview

October 14th, 2010

It finally happened! I guess technically No. 1 ranked Alabama lost too, ending their league best 19-game win streak, which represents some sort of milestone, but the real noteworthy event of the weekend was my Alabama prediction coming true. It really happened!

I've waited long and hard for this moment - my 15 minutes, the realization of all my predictive potential, the cataclysmic rearrangement of the cosmos, which if interpreted properly, might just endow me with another week's worth of 100% accurate predictions.

There's too much science involved for it not to happen. Cosmos? Cataclysmic? I didn't even know what those words meant before my lucky streak started, and now look, I'm using them to explain my infinite prophetic power. The Easter Bunny DOES exist!

Predictions I Will Be Proud to Have Made Come True:

Prediction #1:
The Most Interesting Man in The World from the Dos Equis commercials will take his talent to Minnesota and perform a cutting edge surgery on Brett Favre's elbow. Unfortunately, it will go horribly wrong and render Favre speechless. Literally. Our Most Interesting Man, compelled by this prediction (you're welcome), will accidentally sew tissue from Favre's elbow over Favre's mouth, so that he can no longer annoy us with his media presence.

His new nickname "Mouthbow" will help everyone forget all about that disappointment from Florida: "Tebow". Mouthbow will be encouraged to continue to entertain us with inappropriate texts to cheerleaders and inspirational Wrangler's commercials, so long as ESPN doesn't let him take over the entire network, as he has this past week.

Prediction #2:
#1 Ohio St. will survive #18 Wisconsin (Sat. 7:00 ET, ESPN). Situation sound familiar? The consensus best team in the country faces the 18th best team at their home stadium? Alabama vs. South Carolina in South Carolina? Ring any bells? Despite the many parallels, the end result will be different. Wisconsin is 40-4 at Camp Randall Stadium since 2004, and the Buckeyes haven't yet played a currently ranked opponent, but Ohio St. will hold onto their #1 ranking. Ohio St.'s QB Terrelle Pryor has averaged 270 yds/game in the air and 70/game on the ground. If neither Wisconsin nor #15 Iowa (week 11) can stop him, the Buckeyes will go undefeated and play for the National Championship.

Prediction #3:
#5 Nebraska might get challenged by unranked Texas (Sat. 3:30 ET, ABC). Nebraska is a lesser known program that hasn't been ranked this high since 2001. Texas is the second most winningest college football program ever. This year's Longhorns, however, have lost two in a row to bad teams although it's never safe to count them out considering their legacy. Nebraska can officially put to rest Texas' season by avenging their loss to Texas in the Big 12 Title Game last year.

Prediction #3.5:
"Might" will be useful word in predicting both the Nebraska-Texas game and #7 Auburn at #12 Arkansas (Sat. 3:30 ET, CBS). Auburn's QB Cameron Newton is an all-around force to be reckoned with, and Arkansas' Ryan Mallet is a Heisman and NFL prospect. This one will be too close to call, even for a prophet. Enjoy your weekend!
